December 2011 – Launch: Libations & Laughs Happy Hour and Improv Show, Mitzvah Mavens Chanukkah Party for JFGH
Our crowd gathered for our launch event at Rock Bottom to mingle and learn more about NOVA Tribe’s programs. Later in the evening, we headed to the Comedy Spot for an interactive improv show. We also were excited to be able to partner with Mitzvah Mavens for a Chanukkah Party at the Jewish Foundation of Group Homes where we made crafts with residents.
January 2012 – Murdery Mystery Shabbat, Happy Hour with jnet
We discovered that Murder Mystery + Shabbat is a great combination. Participants enjoyed a Shabbat meal and an 80′s version of “who did it” (it was Polly Pingmold in the kitchen with the Rubik’s cube) and then all 3 houses met up for an after-party in Arlington. jnet and NOVA Tribe also bonded over some brews at the Madfox brewery.
February 2012 – Trivia Night
Trivia night proved to be popular as our number of participants grew to 70. We collected 2 boxes of books to donate to the community and plan to continue collecting books at future events!
March 2012 – Good Deeds Day
We made origami crafts to brighten the lives of the kids at the Chilren’s Inn. We also heard from the NOVA Shlicha, Yael Ingel, who talked about The Lone Soldier Project and the Young Professional Service Trip to work with Holocaust Survivors in Miami (June 14-18). If you if you would like to get involved with these projects contact us at email@example.com
April 2012 – Have a Heart Speed Dating, Mmm Monday’s, The Big Schlep Scavenger Hunt
A busy month for us….we played matchmaker for our single friends at our speed dating event and raised money for The Jewish Foundation of Group Homes and Homestretch Inc. The following week we held our first Mmm’ Mondays informal dinner @ Pete’s Pizza and were impressed with how many of our members turned out for what we thought was going to be a small shindig. That Sunday we raced around Clarendon during our Big Schlep Scavenger Hunt taking fun pics with our teammates and figuring out clues that led us to buy items for Mother’s Day baskets we donated to Embry Rucker shelter.
May 2012 – Mmm Monday’s, Taste of Arlington
Apparently we were quite hungry in May. Our 2nd Mmm Monday’s took place at Clarendon Grill where we grabbed some food and then had to chance improve our salsa skills during a fast paced salsa lesson. We also checked out the Taste of Arlington and were happy to stop by and see some of our own Tribe members volunteering at the beer/wine tent.
