Join NOVA Tribe Series for Mmm Monday, an informal dinner for new and old members- a great opportunity to meet others in an intimate setting. This month we are getting our fill of falafel  at Amsterdam Falafel and reflecting on our experiences/relationship with Israel during small group discussions based off of the Ask Big Questions program.

Not a falafel fan? There are plenty of grab and go options in the area you can bring over (Pete’s Pizza, Four Sister’s Vietnamese, Trader Joe’s.)

Amsterdam Falafel is located across from Clarendon metro stop. At 8:00 pm we will head over to Hard Times Cafe for a drink.

Spread some holiday cheer on Christmas day…we are working with The Holiday Project this year and visiting patients at the Washington Hospital Center. We will sing songs, pass out presents, and visit with patients. Our group gets snack vouchers & validated parking as well!

We will organize carpools to the location from various points in VA/DC/MD. Coming from VA? We will meet at Brooklyn Bagel (2055 Wilson Blvd) at 11:15 am to grab a bagel to go.

We have reserved reduced priced tickets to the play Sex with Strangers at Signature Theatre, rides will be coordinated to the show. Before the show our group will be meeting for happy hour  &  discussion of Judaism and Sex in the Modern World at Cooperwood Tavern in the Shirlington Village. Copperwood Tavern not only offers “24 draft beer, 30 small-batch whiskeys and a superb wine selection, it’s 30-foot craft bar is also stalked with southern Virginia’s white whiskey. Yes, we mean moonshine.”

TGIF! Shabbat is back! NOVA Tribe Series will host TGIF! Shabbat and Second Saturday Havdalah every other month starting this October. Join the 20s/30s Jewish community for a musical & interactive Kabbalat Shabbat experience led by Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation Rabbinic Intern Rachel Silverstein followed by an Indian themed dinner.

What: An innovative visual Shabbat service and a taste of the culture of India – food, music, and henna

In partnership and through the generosity of Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation (NVHC), we are proud to offer FREE high holiday tickets to those in their 20s and 30s. We invite you to join NOVA Tribe for reform high holiday services and an alternative Rosh Hashanah experience including lunch, outdoor meditation, and Tashlich led by NVHC Rabbinic intern Rachel Silverstein**.

We will have a young professionals section reserved at each of the Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation’s services and will coordinate rides from the Wiehle-Reston East metro station and arrange carpools from DC/MD/VA. **Our lunch and subsequent activities on Rosh Hashanah Day are exclusively for those in their 20s/30s.

Our bowling lanes open at 7:00 pm & bocce lanes open at 7:30 pm but feel free to meet us for happy hour in the bar first, we will be there by 6:15 pm. Some of us will be meeting at Rosslyn metro at 5:45 pm and walking over to Pinstripes (weather permitting) It is $5 per game – please bring cash so we can easily pay per person. A fun place to check out in NOVA…Top Golf! We will spend the day playing their signature game of hitting golf balls into targets as well as cornhole and mini-golf. Drinks & food are available at each bay and we will have our group move around trying out different activities. Make sure to bring cash for easier payment. We will meet at the entrance at 1PM, look for NOVA Tribe committee members with blue name tags to find us throughout the venue. If you need a ride, email as the location is not metro accessible.  Become a part of the NOVA Tribe Series family as we join with EntryPointDC‘s Shabbat Clusters for a casual family-style Italian Shabbat. We will dine on pasta*, salad, and garlic bread/challah, with Italian gelato for dessert and of course the wine will be flowing as if we were in Rome!
